Defending IPCC
Dear ______, (sent individually to about 10 United Nations staff members, identified through web. Also sent to William Collins, author of Scientific American article summarizing the 2007 IPCC reports. A few others.)
The purpose of this email is to request expert assistance in clarifying the scientific explanation of global warming predictions. A group of serious reviewers here in the US is unable verify the science put forward by the IPCC. We genuinely want to verify the science. We have read the IPCC reports, along with hundreds of other sources. We find credible dissent of the IPCC science, but we have no credible, technically-detailed defense of the IPCC position.
Statements defending the IPCC are clear, but where is the proof? We have evidence suggesting the IPCC science has holes below the waterline. We need someone who can respond to technical, scientific criticism of the IPCC with technical information.
We are trying to find someone who can defend the IPCC position.
Can you possibly help us find a climate science expert who can answer technical questions and provide reference data supporting the answers?
It seems that it should be easy to find an expert to assist, considering that so many experts support the IPCC view. Unfortunately, it has proven impossible so far.
Any information or suggestions you can offer would be extremely much appreciated.
Best regards,
Dan Allen
Montpelier, VT USA
RESPONSE
----------------
Feb 5, 3pm Eastern Daylight Time
Dear Dan
I am reading your request on my way home for the WE after an exhausting week. If you don't mind I would appreciate if you could wait for a response next week. Many thanks! Brenda (sent from Switzerland)
NOTE
----------------
When I heard back from Brenda, I wrote to the others to whom I had sent my inquiry at the WMO, informing them my request was being addressed by Brenda. I have received an acknowledgment from a senior scientist at the WMO.
Global Warming - Real or Hoax?

STORY IDEA
Debate between Dr. James Hansen (frequent guest on your show) and Daniel Foty (Vermont Tiger) on the existence of global warming
Dear DemocracyNow!,
The consensus of 2,000 climate scientists cited by the 2007 IPCC report has lost so much credibility recently, it is impossible for the general public to weigh the evidence. I graduated from MIT, and I sure cannot figure it out, even though I have devoted substantial time and correspondence with leading scientists and politicians. Meanwhile, Fox News and other right leaning media constantly challenge the existence of global warming and its causes. Who among the general public is to say the skeptics are wrong?
We need an hour or longer recorded discussion between one of the credible, informed skeptics and someone such as Dr. James Hansen, frequent guest on your show.
An excellent skeptic, Daniel Foty, is available here in Vermont for such a debate. Mr. Foty publishes frequently in an influential Vermont news website, VermontTiger. Mr. Foty credibly reopens the question of whether global warming is real.
Either Mr. Foty is right, or Dr. Hansen is right.
Mr. Foty has accepted a challenge to debate Dr. Hansen, or I would presume, anyone of Dr. Hansen's caliber. Some of Mr. Foty's criticism of Dr. Hansen is provided via the link below to a discussion with Mr. Foty.
Could DemocracyNow possibly help bring Dr. Hansen or other major figure to discuss the reality of global warming, here in Vermont, in a debate with Mr. Foty? If not in person, then by phone?
WHY DO THIS IN VERMONT?
