Snow and Ice

Montpelier's annual snow and ice is used for recreation and appreciating natural beauty.

15,000 years ago, Montpelier, had it been in the same spot it is now, would have been under a glacier more than 1 mile thick. That is a lot of ice, but much less than we have now. Some of us are worried there won't be any more snow and ice around here for awhile, come next century or two. Some are not worried at all.
